Social Work

The Social Work Division provides services to 150 families yearly, who are survivors of domestic violence. These clients are referred by a variety of agencies including the Domestic Violence Courts, Family Courts, DCF, shelters and homeless populations. The program provides both individual and group services. Fees for services include Medicaid and private insurance programs. All other clients are free. Other service areas include parent/child problems and marital discord.

The training program provides training for 15 students, yearly, from two schools of social work. They are trained in serving the domestic violence population, consisting of women and children survivors of domestic violence. The students also receive training in working with one of several HIV populations. Further training consists of participation in evaluating the mother/child dyad of young children (birth to 5) from the domestic violence population. Women survivors over 50 are included in the service population.
