Legislative Avocacy Training Initiative

A Florida Pediatric Advocacy Network inspired project
funded by the University of Miami and hosted by Florida CHAIN

While public policy greatly impacts the lives of children, their rights are often compromised because of a relative lack of representation. Pediatricians, while very knowledgeable about the needs of children, are rarely involved in the legislative process. This is in large part due to a lack of training in this area. Learning to advocate is an art and being successful comes from hands-on experience.

The goal of the Legislative Advocacy Training Initiative (LATI) is to collect pilot data to be used to develop more comprehensive educational programs whose aim is to train pediatric residents and pediatricians about the most effective ways to advocate for children.
