Project ABC's- Assistive Technology to Build Capacities and Support Individuals with Disabilities

Interdisciplinary Fundamentals in Adaptive and Assistive Technology©

Project ABCs offers an online course that provides instruction related to the evaluation for and provision of assistive technology to individuals of all ages with special needs. It is available in accessible formats and consists of text, audio, images, and multimedia and is divided into 5 sections, consisting of 60 contact hours. Each section contains presentations which include didactic instruction, illustrations, videos, case studies, assignments, quizzes, and a final exam (approximately 2 contact hours for each presentation). Each presentation has a reading assignment. The required textbook will be mailed to each registered course participant. All participants will receive a certificate of completion. Continuing Education credit may be obtained for Florida residents who are occupational therapists, physical therapists, nurses and Miami-Dade County Public School teachers. Each participant will receive a certificate of completion for 60 contact hours.

The Cost of each section is $175 for each section or $795 for the complete course (5 sections).

University of Miami Credit is available for an additional fee. The 3-credit hour course is $1,650.00.

Project ABCs Lending Library of Assistive Technology is also available for 30-day short-term loans to families of children with special needs to try out equipment options before buying them.
